Overnight Rolls
Ingredients
Yeast mixture (5:30 PM):
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Dough (6 PM):
- 4 cups warm water
- 1 cup oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 14 cups flour
Directions
- 5:30 PM: Mix the yeast mixture ingredients together and let stand 10 minutes.
- 6:00 PM: In a large bowl, mix the water, oil, sugar, salt, and flour. Add the yeast mixture. Knead the dough and work in the flour.
- Place in a large covered bowl and lightly cover with a lid.
- 8:00 PM: Punch down.
- 10:00 PM: Pan the buns. Let stand overnight.
- Bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes.
Cinnamon rolls variation
- Divide the dough into several large portions. Roll each into a rectangle, spread with butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll starting with the long edge, jelly roll style. Cut into 1 inch slices and place cut side down in a pan prepared with melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Let stand overnight and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
